1X Technologies NEO
Home humanoid from 1X Technologies with tendon-driven actuators and a soft body. It has been available to reserve since 2025-10-28 ($20,000 to own or $499 a month), with US deliveries announced for 2026. For tasks it cannot yet do, a 1X employee teleoperates it remotely (“Expert Mode”) and sees inside the home through its cameras.

What it does, and on what evidence
Five mandatory fields on every sheet. A product page proves neither commercial availability nor full autonomy: here we separate what has been documented from what is announced.
- 1 · Task
- Household chores and companionship: according to 1X, it works through a list of scheduled chores (for example, putting away dishes or cleaning the bathroom), opens doors, fetches items and turns lights on and off, and converses by voice. Cooking will initially be restricted. Designed for use in and around the home, on firm ground.
- 2 · Autonomy by task
Does on its own
According to 1X, it works autonomously by default with its Redwood AI model, plugs itself in to charge and ships with “foundational autonomy” that will expand over time. 1X has not published which tasks it completes unaided or with what success rate; in the in-person demonstration for The Wall Street Journal (October 2025) every task was teleoperated by a person wearing a VR headset.
A person steps in
“Expert Mode”: for tasks it does not know, the owner schedules a session in which a 1X employee based in the US guides it remotely, sees the home through its cameras and generates training data. According to 1X, the expert can only enter if the owner accepts them at the scheduled time, the “ear” rings change colour while they are connected, and people can be blurred and no-go zones set. 1X says it does not use the data to build profiles or sell it and that owners can opt out of sharing it; its CEO said buyers must accept that “social contract” for the product to be useful. Owners can also pilot it via the app or a VR headset.[1X][Engadget, 2025][Decrypt, 2025]
- 3 · Strongest evidence
Demonstration2025-10
Launch and demonstrations in October 2025. In The Wall Street Journal’s in-person test every task was teleoperated and some were slow (over a minute to fetch a bottle from the fridge). In April 2026 1X said the units built in Hayward (California) were going first to testing in employees’ homes and that some NEOs were already helping in its factory (stocking parts, basic logistics).[Decrypt, 2025][1X, 2026]
- 4 · Access
- Pilot programme
Reservation with a refundable $200 deposit; “Early Access” ownership for $20,000 (3-year warranty and priority delivery) or a $499-a-month subscription, according to 1X’s order page (read on 2026-11-04), which announces US deliveries from 2026 and other countries later. 1X says it booked out its first-year capacity (10,000 units) in 5 days. In April 2026 output was going to internal testing, and we have found no 1X publication confirming deliveries to customers (checked on 2026-11-04).
- 5 · Lifecycle
- Current generation
Consumer version launched on 2025-10-28. According to 1X, the Hayward factory has been producing since 2026 with an initial capacity of up to 10,000 units a year; reaching 100,000 a year by the end of 2027 is a goal.
